We love to keep in touch on Facebook and Instagram! We have a friendly and supportive Facebook page, where we share lots of information about our handbell music and our life together in Holland and Petoskey, Michigan. You’ll also find posts about long-distance relationships there, and lots of fun on Chicken Tuesday!

Handbells and long-distance relationships

We originally set up our Facebook page after we’d played handbell duets together for the first time, when Larry visited Carla in England in 2011. It started as a way to share our music videos with family and friends. These days, we talk a lot about Choraegus handbell music and Larry’s compositions and arrangements that are available online. We also talk about our handbell duet performances!

Long-distance relationships

After a while, we started using the page to talk about our long-distance relationship, and to offer support and encouragement to other couples separated by distance. We talked about our U.S visa process, and the Green Card process, and all the struggles along the way. Even though we closed the distance in 2012, we still receive messages from many people in long distance relationships. We continue to offer encouragement to them as they go through the many challenges along the road to togetherness.

Daily life, health, happiness, Victorian cottages, flowers, beach walks, snowy days, and sunsets

Our Facebook page has expanded over the years, to become a place where we share not only our music (although there are a lot of handbell videos there), but also news about our daily life. Larry’s had prostate cancer treatment, and Carla was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2022, so we talk about those things, but we also focus on enjoying life in our “up north” Michigan summer cottage at Bay View, taking walks among the flowers, and appreciating the sunsets and the beauty of nature around us. In the winter months, you’ll find us enjoying the snowy weather in Holland, Michigan.

Chicken Tuesday, and not-collecting chickens

Every Tuesday, you’ll find that our Facebook page turns into a celebration of all things chicken-related! We’re officially not-collecting chickens, and we encourage you to read our complete guide to the art of not-collecting chickens, and join in the fun!

If you’re a fan of social media, our Facebook page is a great way to connect with us! You can find out more about our handbell music, and look for support if you’re in a long-distance relationship. You can post on the page if you want to ask questions or share something with us, and we’ll be happy to hear from you!

We’re also on Instagram!

We recently decided to get Instagram too, so if you’re on Instagram, let’s connect there! We’re still new there, so it’s not currently the most exciting place to communicate with us, but we’re enjoying seeing handbell photos and videos from people we haven’t encountered on Facebook, so you might enjoy it too!
