Love Divine, All Loves Excelling – new handbell music!

Love Divine, All Loves Excelling is a beloved hymn written by Charles Wesley and first published in 1747.

“Love divine, all loves excelling,
Joy of heaven to earth come down;
Fix in us thy humble dwelling;
All thy faithful mercies crown!

Jesus, thou art all compassion,
Pure, unbounded love thou art.
Visit us with thy salvation;
Enter every trembling heart.”

Love Divine, All Loves Excelling is sung to several different hymn tunes, including BEECHER and HYFRYDOL. In the UK, the tunes LOVE DIVINE and BLAENWERN are used most often, and BLAENWERN is the one we use for our arrangement. This tune was written by William Penfro Rowlands in 1905.
