Here’s a moderately challenging arrangement of the REGENT SQUARE tune that will add to your Christmas ringing!

Angels We Have Heard on High

The French carol GLORIA is one of rejoicing!

As With Gladness Men of Old

Here’s our twelve-bell arrangement(s) of the nineteenth-century Epiphany carol As with Gladness Men of Old, sung to the hymn tune DIX.

Away in a Manger (Cradle Song)

Away in a Manger is sung to several melodies; among them is the tune CRADLE SONG by William Kirkpatrick, most often used in the UK.

Away in a Manger (Murray)

The melody in this arrangement of Away in a Manger by James Murray is the one most familiar to Americans.

Bring a Torch, Jeanette Isabella

Here’s another French carol. A young girl is sent to bring a torch/candle to bring light to the stable where the Christ Child sleeps.

Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus

The words for this Advent hymn fit many hymn tunes such as HYFRYDOL. Here’s our accompanied twelve-bell version on the less well-known hymn tune JEFFERSON.

Ding Dong, Merrily on High

Ding Dong Merrily on High is a sixteenth-century tune that we now sing as a Christmas carol. It’s especially popular with handbell people!

From Starry Skies Descending

The Italian carol Tu scendi dalle stelle is lovely, though perhaps less familiar to Americans than others. Our twelve-bell arrangement will bring a new bit of joy to your holiday services and celebrations.

Go, Tell It on the Mountain

This laid-back arrangement of the popular carol is fun to play!

Good Christian Men, Rejoice

This lively carol makes a cheerful addition to a Christmas performance or worship service.

Hark, the Glad Sound!

The hymn Hark! the Glad Sound anticipates the Savior’s coming. It’s suitable for Advent or Palm Sunday.

I Saw Three Ships

On Christmas Day in the morning! This lively English carol is a fun challenge for a small ensemble group.

In the Bleak Midwinter – Accompanied 12-bell version

Here’s our arrangement of Gustav Holst’s famous Christmas song – for twelve handbells and piano accompaniment. It’s one of our most straightforward 12-bell arrangements.

It Came Upon the Midnight Clear

Richard Willis wrote the words to this carol in 1849. This arrangement is the American melody, CAROL.

Silent Night

Our peaceful 12-bell arrangement of the popular carol Silent Night is perfect for a candlelight Christmas Eve service.

Still, Still, Still – Accompanied 12-bell version IN G MAJOR

Our piano-accompanied, twelve-bell version of Still, Still, Still will be a nice addition to your collection of Christmas music! Please note that it’s in G major (i.e. with F#5 and F#6) rather than the usual C major. This is another of our more-straightforward 12-bell arrangements.

We Three Kings

The Bible doesn’t say precisely how many wise men visited the Christ Child in the Bethlehem manger. But it does record that they brought three special gifts – gold, frankincense, and myrrh – so that seems to hint that there might have been three of them. The important thing is that they knew where to go and who to worship – the Lord of the universe, who loved us so much that He gave Himself to be our Savior.

What Child Is This (published as Greensleeves)

This versatile arrangement can be played as both a folk song and a Christmas carol!

  1. Thank you for your kind comments, Audrey. We’re glad you enjoy our music! Our 12-bell music varies in difficulty – but we’re not sure any of our arrangements would quality as Level 1+. It’s hard to assign a level to small-ensemble music, because groups will assign the bells differently depending on the number of ringers. The most straightforward 12-bell pieces (which you’ll find on the Choraegus site) are probably “Still, Still, Still”, “In the Bleak Midwinter”, and “Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus”. They have piano accompaniment, which can boost the confidence levels of beginning/improving handbell ensembles. Apart from those, “Away in a Manger (Cradle Song)” might also work. We hope you find something for your ringers, but if not, please feel welcome to contact us with suggestions/requests!

  2. Hello – hope you are doing well. Do you have any 12 bell Christmas music that would be rated 1+ or 2-? I prefer to preview the actual sheet music before selecting. Our choir is still just learning. They are up for a challenge, but if it’s too beyond their skills, well, it’s very demotivating. I love your pieces! And I love watching your videos.

    Thank you… Audrey
